Explanations

The history of this list dates all the way back to 1998 and my very first website that was dedicated to sharing radio streams that would work with WebTV. I have continued to update and share it for those that want something different, isn't based on an algorithm or an extremely tight playlist, and doesn't charge a subsciption fee.

To earn a place on this list, a station must be independently owned and operated or is at least part of just a small group. The majority of the programming must be dedicated to music, and very little should be syndicated programming. On commercial stations, the mix of music must be unique or, in some way, done better than an average outlet. Overall, I avoid any stations that broadcast sports or extended news.
